  • Draft reports and review technical staff reports.
  • Foster relationships with current collaborators and pursue new partnerships.
  • Establish professional rapport with team members.
  • Participate in social initiatives.
  • Serve as a mentor under a structured training plan for junior staff.
  • Oversee projects, including but not limited to:
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops.
  • Accompany engineers to meetings and site visits.
  • Comprehend project requirements and fulfill all duties assigned by management.
  • Deliver cost-effective solutions that meet project briefs.
  • Coordinate project resources effectively.
  • Review project outputs (drawings, specifications, reports, etc.).
  • Evaluate tender submissions and communicate findings to clients.
  • Assess third-party designs and drawings.
  • Provide compliant temporary works solutions and design as necessary.
  • Offer alternative solutions and value engineering within the fee agreement.
  • Assist in the ongoing development of the Business Plan, including:
  • Financial: budgets, billing targets, charge-out rates
  • Marketing: website, networking
  • Processes: policies, templates, training, technical library
  • Social: internal and external events, mentoring
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of senior engineering experience, encompassing design, construction, and project management.
  • Chartered status with a recognized engineering institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and professionalism.
  • A proactive growth mindset.
  • Willingness to accept and learn from constructive feedback.
  • Outstanding teamwork and leadership abilities.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Performance Metrics:
  • Timely completion of weekly timesheets
  • Preparation of load path sketches at the beginning of each calculation section
  • Creation of loading, forces, and deflection diagrams for all structural elements
  • Adherence to calculation, drawing, filing, and report writing standards
  • Monthly production and review of Technical Notes.
  • Continuous improvement of profitability with a target of £150 per hour by the end of the first year.
  • Achievement of agreed 90-day objectives.
  • Any additional goals or targets as agreed with management.
