Quality Assurance Leader

Salary – approximately £50k to 55k per annum plus an annual performance bonus of 10% based on group/division/personal achievements.

Site-based role in West Yorkshire.

Working hours: Monday to Friday with flexibility to accommodate business requirements.

Role Overview:

As a key member of the Senior Management Team, you will advocate for quality across our organization, ensuring we deliver the outstanding service our clients expect. You will spearhead the enhancement of our Quality Management System (QMS) and lead change management initiatives. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of quality excellence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and update the existing QMS in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Provide training to all relevant personnel on quality systems and associated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee internal, external, customer, and group audits.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to ensure compliance with the system.
  • Lead the change management process effectively.

Customer Engagement:

  • Address customer complaints through thorough root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Translate customer specifications into actionable internal processes.
  • Ensure alignment of new process developments with customer approvals.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between products, processes, and customer applications.

General Duties:

  • Prioritize employee safety as a fundamental value.
  • Engage in regular discussions on the shop floor to tackle quality issues directly.
  • Establish systems to ensure departmental objectives are consistently surpassed.
  • Operate within the allocated budget for systems development and propose future needs as necessary.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in quality management within a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated background in quality management, preferably in an engineering environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail and experience in report writing.
  • Ability to engage effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Capability to identify training needs and recommend development strategies.
  • Strong foundation in continuous improvement methodologies, ideally Green Belt certified with successful project management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead the quality department to exceed KPIs and performance expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lead Auditor certification.
  • Background in lean management.
  • Expertise in quality processes.
  • Metallurgical knowledge is advantageous, with training available if required.
