About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Editorial Commissioning Specialist to join our team at Canvas8. As a key member of our editorial team, you will be responsible for commissioning and editing our weekly content streams, working closely with senior editors to plan, commission, and edit our explorations of brand culture and consumer behavior.

Your primary focus will be on explaining complex cultural trends and consumer behavior to our members, delivering clear, useful, and inspiring research and insights across various formats. You will be a steward of our tone of voice, crafting punchy headlines that demonstrate value and opportunities for our members.

You will also be responsible for researching culture in America and the UK, while keeping track of shifts in Europe and the Americas more widely. This role requires a natural collaborator who can work with writers to improve feedback loops and share best practices.

About You

We are looking for someone who is obsessed with how brands build creative culture, constantly hunting down new trends in unexpected places, and loves chatting to experts and insiders to understand why something's happening. You should be comfortable with a fast pace of digital publishing but value well-researched and thought-provoking work.

A budding editor who's as happy commissioning as they are editing, you'll be naturally interested in the world around you – as excited to flag how Ozempic will change the way we eat as you are anticipating the next generation of sustainable culture.

Requirements
  • 1-2 years of experience in an editing role is preferred
  • Very high standard of written English
  • Detailed-oriented wordsmith
  • Culturally aware, comfortable discussing ideas and thinking laterally
  • Ability to manage time, prioritise, and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
