Senior Financial Operations Manager - Purpose of the Role

This is a pivotal head of department position, tasked with overseeing the financial functions for the organization.

Overseeing the comprehensive activities within the financial domain, collaborating with all sectors of the organization and guiding the small Finance team in their budget planning and management.

You will also collaborate closely with the Managing Director to ensure the business operates at its maximum profitability.


Your workplace will significantly influence your efforts to meet established budgets, revenue, and profitability objectives in executing projects that align with the strategic goals of the business unit.

This role reports directly to the Managing Director and offers a broad and engaging scope of responsibilities.

Key Deliverables

  • Strategic Planning and Budgeting: Crafting financial models for forecasting and cash management to inform the development of business plans and budgets based on initial contract parameters and objectives, while maintaining overall oversight to ensure successful budgeting that maximizes profit potential.
  • Evaluating business performance across all sectors, clients, and departments
  • Generating monthly management accounts and balance sheets for the organization
  • Presenting financial projections and forecasts to the board
  • Engaging in external funding and financing initiatives to support business expansion.
  • Managing insurance for the organization, including Health/Liability and Indemnities
  • Overseeing cash flow through ledger management and invoicing processes
  • Monitoring debt and collection processes
  • Supervising budgets to ensure adherence to agreed cost plans.
  • Collaborating with departments and the commercial team
  • Leading your own accounts/bookkeeping team
  • Preparing accounts, purchase orders, cost sheets, and payroll
  • Bid Participation: Engaging in bid activities alongside the Business Development department to ensure a professional, profitable, and successful bid that meets agreed turnover and profit levels for the project.
  • Monthly Reviews: Conducting all monthly reviews promptly, utilizing established business procedures to ensure the Managing Director is fully informed of project completion and financial status.

Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are encompassed within this role:


Overseeing all daily accounting operations - typically including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Counsel, payroll management, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.

Reviewing contracts for comprehension and execution within established terms.

Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and planning initiatives.

Assist senior teams in formulating growth strategies and plans.

Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Advise the CEO and Senior Management Team on all financial performance matters.

Prepare annual financial statements.


Manage all financial and accounting matters including payroll management, month-end reporting, management accounts, cash flow oversight, statutory accounts, compliance, and presentation of management information and KPIs.

Support the organization through periods of change and growth, coordinating corporate finance, debt, taxation, equity, and acquisitions as necessary.

Ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies.
