Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optometrist to take on a Clinical Leadership role within our team at South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Optometrist, you will be responsible for leading the Optometry department and developing comprehensive and quality services for patients within South Warwickshire and Nuneaton.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and management to the Optometry team, ensuring high-quality patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement clinical strategies to improve patient services and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication systems with staff, patients, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in clinical governance and audit meetings to ensure high standards of care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Provide education and training to staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care.

Requirements

  • Registered Optometrist with the General Optical Council (GOC).
  • BSc in Optometry or equivalent qualification.
  • Masters degree or equivalent within Ophthalmology.
  • Independent/non-medical prescriber qualification.
  • Management qualification completion of management programme.
  • Significant experience at Band 7 or above.
  • Highly developed Specialist experience across a wide range of Ophthalmic case mix.
  • Evidence of organisational and leadership skills.
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience in change management and problem-solving.
  • Working across organisational boundaries.
  • Team building and staff development.
  • Experience of clinical leadership and operational management experience.
  • Experience in budget management.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Evidence of lecturing/presenting and clinical teaching experience.
  • Lead in audit or research projects.
