Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced General Practice Nurse to join our team at Milman Road & Kennet Surgery. As a General Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of Treatment Room Services, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective nursing care to our patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement nursing services to meet the needs of our patients.
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the nursing team.
  • Manage the care of patients with long-term health conditions, including organisational responsibility for specific disease areas.
  • Ensure effective management of wounds, including ongoing learning and development for the nursing team to improve rates of healing and patient outcomes.
  • Work with the nursing admin staff to construct and maintain robust call and recall systems for chronic disease, immunisations, and disease prevention care programmes.
  • Provide leadership and support in the relevant practice services LES, DES and other incentive schemes.
  • Ensure treatment room compliance and effectiveness, including stock control, ordering and vaccine/cold chain management.
  • Subject matter expert for infection control prevention, responsible for audits and submissions.
  • Provide pastoral support for staff when required, particularly in relation to issues that affect their ability to work.

Milman Road & Kennet Surgery is a high-achieving QOF practice, serving 20,000 patients across two sites. We have a strong team of allied health professionals, including a Pharmacist, Paramedics, and Nurse Practitioners, and a well-established treatment room team.

We have an innovative hybrid appointment system, providing high levels of efficiency and satisfaction for our GPs, as well as continuity of care for our patients.

We are a dynamic, forward-thinking practice, at the centre of primary care development in South Reading. We are a leading practice in the local Alliance and the lead practice for the PCN.

We have a friendly, efficient admin support team, working to reduce the administrative burden for our clinical team.

This role involves working across Reading Holybrook PCN practices, including Broadstreet Health Centre, Milman Road & Kennet Surgery, and Abbey Medical Centre.
