We are looking for a Healthcare Navigator/ Telephonist/ Administrator with a caring nature and proactive professional manner to provide a high standard of care for our patients. This role requires excellent communication skills and a commitment to working as part of a strong and effective team.

Main Duties of the Job

  1. To follow practice protocols in relation to appointments, telephone contact, messages, requests for home visits, repeat prescriptions, and all other patient contact.
  2. To ensure that all contact with patients is done sensitively with a high level of customer service skills, taking into account that patients, their relatives, and carers may be distressed at times.
  3. Telephones are to be answered promptly and politely within the protocols of the practice.
  4. To make, change, and delete appointments as appropriate, while taking into account the needs of the clinical team.
  5. To direct patients where appropriate to the correct part of the surgery in a timely manner and keep a watching brief on the situation around clinic delays to inform patients attending appointments.
  6. To inform patients of payments to be made for non-NHS services and receive and record such payments.
  7. Photo copying as necessary.
  8. Register patients accurately, including the completion of all paperwork and computer records for New Babies, fully registered patients, and Temporary Residents.
  9. To handle prescription requests accurately and follow practice protocol.
  10. Taking responsibility for all messages that you have taken until they have been actioned. Ensure they are appropriate, accurate, passed to the right person, and dealt with by you where possible.
Person SpecificationKnowledge, Skills and Qualifications
  • Knowledge of filing and data recording - manual and electronic.
  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
