We are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition in a Year 1 class at a 2-form entry primary school in Haringey.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing one-on-one support to the pupil, facilitating their participation in classroom activities, promoting social interaction, and supporting their individual learning and development.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual support to the pupil with ASC, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Help implement and follow the child's Individual Education Plan and behaviour management strategies.
- Facilitate the child's communication and language development through alternative communication methods.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and the SENCO to plan and adapt activities to meet the pupil's specific needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the pupil, promoting their social integration with peers.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, providing regular feedback on the child's progress.
We are looking for an individual with relevant experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition or similar special educational needs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pre-verbal communication methods and strategies, as well as knowledge of behaviour management techniques and the ability to adapt them to meet individual needs.
Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs are essential for this role.
