Our operations run 24/7, requiring coverage for various early and late shifts, including bank holidays (excluding Christmas Day and Good Friday). Flexibility is essential, as the nature of the role may require working beyond the standard hours. While evening and overnight shifts are rare, they may occur, and we provide a rota in advance to help you balance work and personal time.
Role Overview:
As a Custody Transport Officer, you will work as part of a dedicated team to ensure safe and secure transportation and custody services for detainees. Your responsibilities will include collecting individuals from correctional facilities or police stations and ensuring their safe transit to court, while prioritizing their physical and mental wellbeing.
Upon arrival at court, you will oversee all aspects of their care until they are either returned to custody or released. Key responsibilities include accompanying defendants in court settings, conducting searches, ensuring access to food and drink, and managing necessary paperwork and data entry.
Qualifications:
Our current Custody Transport Officers come from diverse backgrounds, and prior experience is not a prerequisite. What matters most is your commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the necessary skills.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, with C1 or D License preferred (valid CPC card is advantageous). A reasonable level of fitness and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effectively managing various situations. This role is particularly suited for individuals with an interest in criminology or psychology.
Assessment Process:
The selection process includes an online assessment, a briefing call to determine eligibility, a competency-based virtual interview, and a short role-play and written exercise.

All positions are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 checks and satisfactory employment references.
