Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic nurse with recent Pre-Operative Assessment experience, orthopaedic knowledge, and a strong desire to develop clinical and managerial skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively with the team to lead the department into the future.

Main Duties of the Job

This role would suit a nurse who is keen to develop and drive forward changes within the unit. The successful candidate will have the drive and flexibility to help deliver and maintain a high standard of patient care for Nurse-led Pre-Operative Assessment.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care to meet the personalised health and wellbeing care needs of patients. They will provide strong leadership and direction to the team, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education

  • Appropriate NMC Registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional education or development in area of specialty
  • Minimum 12 months experience within orthopaedics
  • Mentorship

Desirable Criteria

  • Post-registration qualification in area of specialty
  • Degree
  • Completion of leadership and management programme
  • Band 6 experience

Knowledge & Experience

  • Evidence of management skills and ability to lead a team
  • Participation in multi-professional learning
  • Evidence of actions taken to optimise learning outcomes and experience
  • Management experience
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and safeguarding and the relevance to practice
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
  • Experience of implementing changes to benefit patients and improve nursing practice
  • Knowledge of Ethical issues
  • Demonstrates current knowledge of professional and NHS issues and the implication for clinical placements
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the clinical governance agenda, including CNST Standards, Standards for Better Health, Hospital Hygiene
  • Demonstrates an understanding of workforce redesign and new ways of working
