Revenue Protection Specialist

About the Role
As a Revenue Protection Officer with British Gas, you will be responsible for preventing, detecting, and investigating instances of theft of gas and electricity by Residential or Business customers. You will work with our customers to find a suitable resolution for recovery and repayment.
This will involve interrogating data leads and consumption trends, carrying out personal visits to our customer premises, and highlighting the dangers of energy theft through presentations to Police, Local Authorities, and other bodies as you build a network of contacts in your area.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate data to identify instances of energy theft
- Visit customer premises to investigate suspected instances of theft of gas and abstraction of electricity
- Present findings to customers in a professional and assured manner
- Deliver customer service skills, upholding British Gas brand image while showing empathy
- Negotiate outcomes and communicate the process to customers
- Manage first-line complaints and know when to escalate
- Use networking skills to build and maintain strong working relationships with local engineers, the Police, and Court staff, local authorities, and meter readers
- Represent British Gas as a professional witness in Court
- Promote safety and environmental policies, ensuring procedures are understood and deployed throughout the business
- Ensure a safety-first approach for yourself, your colleagues, and our customers
