Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance Plumber)

Location: HMP Wandsworth (SW18)

Salary: £36,000 + an additional 5% salary for shift and weekend work

Contract: Full Time - Permanent

We are looking for a committed Mechanical Engineer to become part of our team at HMP Wandsworth, a category B male correctional facility. Join a collaborative team that operates like a family, working Monday to Friday/Sunday to foster a secure and supportive environment.

HMP Wandsworth functions like a self-sufficient community, requiring numerous professionals to maintain its operations. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, your contributions will significantly impact the lives of prisoners, staff, and visitors, extending to their families and the broader community.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with a diverse group of skilled professionals, including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all dedicated to enhancing safety and security.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair plumbing systems in compliance with Water Supply Regulations and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
  • Work on commercial and industrial heating and water systems.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize excellent organizational and time management skills.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years' experience in plumbing or a related field.
  • Qualified in C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), and NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety practices.
