Main Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to join our team as a Cover Supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing staff absence and arranging daily class cover
  • Supervising lessons for absent teachers and ensuring a smooth learning environment
  • Line managing the Cover Supervisor team
  • Allocating and overseeing cover work set by teachers
  • Reporting any deficiencies in cover work to the relevant Cover Manager
  • Providing general assistance to students in completing cover work
  • Following the academy's behavior management and referral systems
  • Organizing lessons efficiently and ensuring they run smoothly
  • Undertaking administrative or student support duties as directed by the line manager or Vice Principal
  • Occasionally supervising post-16 students in their study base
  • Taking registers and reporting any in-lesson absences
  • Liaising with teachers to ensure high-quality cover lessons

Requirements

  • Qualifications to A Level standard or equivalent
  • Knowledge of strategies to recognize and reward efforts and achievements towards self-reliance
  • Basic knowledge of SEN and other learning barriers
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Relevant experience in supervising groups of children aged 11-16
  • Previous experience in a school or comparable large organization
  • Understanding of a secondary school environment
  • Ability to provide classroom cover within agreed parameters
  • Ability to consistently implement agreed behavior management strategies
  • Ability to use language and communication skills that students can understand
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students and empathize with their needs
  • Ability to demonstrate active listening skills
  • Ability to provide individual attention and support to students as needed
