Head of Safety and Environmental Engineering

RINA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Safety and Environmental Engineering team. As Head of Safety and Environmental Engineering, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical solutions that meet or exceed client expectations, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the development and implementation of safety and environmental engineering strategies and policies.
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the delivery of high-quality technical solutions.
- Oversee the technical and quality assurance of deliverables from the team, guaranteeing technical integrity and compliance with project specifications.
- Collaborate with senior directors to align technical capabilities with business growth strategies and market opportunities.
- Contribute to the annual review of the capability development process, identifying areas for technical growth and enhancement within the service portfolio.
- Manage and mentor engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, professional growth, and high performance.
- Act as the point of escalation for any technical issues or risks within the team, addressing technical challenges, client concerns, and resource constraints effectively.
- Ensure all technical work is conducted in accordance with RINA's quality management system, industry standards, and relevant health and safety regulations.
- Lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency within the team, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance standards.
- Oversee the implementation and monitoring of security controls for government-classified assets, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Manage supplier operations to ensure adherence to technical specifications and performance targets.
- Oversee the Competence Framework for the Safety, Environmental, and EMC teams, ensuring all team members meet SQEP requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering field (Master's Degree preferred).
- Recognised Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, or PMI qualifications) (Desirable).
