Position Overview

Traffic Control Specialist

Role Summary

As a skilled Traffic Control Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to manage Traffic Control Operations across various projects, ensuring they proceed efficiently and effectively to maximize productivity while upholding stringent Health and Safety standards. This position requires adaptability due to the dynamic nature of the industry, necessitating the ability to work during both daytime and nighttime hours, including weekends as needed. A proactive and responsible work ethic is essential.

Key Duties

We are seeking an individual who can:

  • Supervise all traffic management techniques, including Give and Take, Priority systems, Stop/Go boards, Portable traffic signals, Convoy operations, Road closures, Lane restrictions, and diversions.
  • Ensure all tasks are executed in accordance with safe operational methods and industry best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop method statements for activities involving traffic management.
  • Guarantee that all job-related activities adhere to established procedures whenever feasible, identifying areas for improvement and reporting them to management.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections to maintain cleanliness and ensure the safety of both the driver and passengers.
  • Enhance the company’s reputation through professional conduct, appropriate attire, and site maintenance.
  • Exhibit initiative by continuously seeking opportunities for operational enhancements.
  • Assist the public by guiding them through safe pathways when necessary.
  • Recognize when management intervention is required.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Lantra 12d certification as a minimum, including TTMBC, 12d (M1, M2).
  • Lantra 12 a/b certification, IPV driver, and foreman experience are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the distinctions between Chapter 8 and the Safety at Street Works and Road Works guidelines.
  • A valid UK driving license.
  • The ability to interpret CAD drawings relevant to the required tasks.
  • Preferably, mechanical skills related to Traffic Light systems.
