Position Summary
Bury Council is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to oversee our Highways Service. The selected individual will collaborate with the Head of Engineering & Streetscene to provide strategic leadership in Highways Service operations.
As the Highways Service Manager, you will:
- Manage the daily operations of the Highways Service, including in-house operational staff, supervisors, highway inspectors, engineers, and support personnel.
- Offer strategic guidance on all facets of highway maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with Asset & Network Management teams.
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective service delivery.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who can work independently and take initiative, prioritize tasks, manage budgets, and meet deadlines.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in highway maintenance, with a proven history of achieving successful results.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Membership in a relevant professional organization.
- Effective management, leadership, and motivational abilities.
- The capacity to work efficiently under pressure to handle a diverse and demanding workload.
Working Hours
The standard working hours are 37 hours per week, aligned with the typical business schedule, including attendance at evening meetings as required by the service.
