About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Captain to join our team at City Cruises UK. As a Captain, you will be responsible for safely navigating our vessels along the River Thames, providing an exceptional experience for our passengers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety of our passengers and crew at all times, adhering to Company standards and regulations.
  • Conduct daily vessel log checks, including safety equipment and engines, to ensure compliance with Company SMS.
  • Provide a vessel safety announcement after leaving each pier, as per Company SMS.
  • Conduct a safety crew briefing every morning, prior to commencing service.
  • Account for and safely embark and disembark passengers from designated locations along the River Thames.
  • Check the vessel's fuel level and fuel the vessel as necessary, prior to entering service.
  • Ensure the vessel has an adequate supply of fresh water onboard for passengers.
  • Ensure the vessel is clean, tidy, and well-presented at all times, adhering to Company SMS and London Port Health regulations.
  • Provide passengers with a commentary throughout the City Cruises' sightseeing journey, enhancing their experience along the River Thames.
  • Manage the crew to ensure they are well-presented and groomed in Company uniform at all times.
  • Promote onboard sales and other Company products as directed.
  • Act as an Ambassador for our RESPECT Service System & Values.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Tier 1 & 2 Boat Masters license.
  • Local knowledge endorsement.
  • Passenger Vessel Certificate.
  • Large Passenger Vessel endorsement license (only applicable to LPV Captains).
  • Experience operating as Captain of large passenger vessels.
  • Knowledge of vessel maintenance and vessel engineering.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Full understanding of Health & Safety afloat and ashore, and implementation of Safety Management System, preferably to ISM standard.
  • Knowledge and understanding of managing rotas.
  • Experience working within the hospitality industry.
  • Experience of managing a team and developing their careers.
