Position: Play Support Worker
Starting hourly rate: £13.52 with additional annual leave contribution
In the role of Play Support Worker, you will assist the group leader in creating a secure, engaging, and enjoyable play environment for children and young individuals with disabilities. Your responsibilities will include fostering children's participation in group activities, enhancing their intellectual and social skills, and encouraging them to explore various resources and activities.
Short breaks are designed to support young individuals with disabilities residing in local boroughs. We conduct group sessions during after-school hours, weekends, and holidays, as well as provide one-on-one support in the community and assist young people in accessing mainstream clubs. This position operates on a zero-hours contract, but there is potential to accumulate regular hours within the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the voice of the child/young person is acknowledged and respected
- Provide support to children with disabilities
- Engage in play and prepare activities
- Assist young individuals with personal care, feeding, and mobility needs
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean environment
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for all
- Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Administer medication as required (post-training)
- Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures
- Document daily reports related to activities
- Follow local policies while adhering to Achieving for Children’s guidelines
Candidate Profile
- Interest and experience in supporting children and young people
- Strong communication skills
- Team-oriented
- Availability to work after school, weekends, and during holidays
- Friendly, welcoming, and engaging demeanor
- Flexible, resilient, and calm under pressure
Recruitment Process
- Five years of professional references (professional email addresses only)
- Completion of Occupational Health assessment
- DBS check to be conducted by Achieving for Children (update system accepted)
