Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Strategist to join our Communications and External Affairs team at Gatwick Airport. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a public affairs strategy that supports the airport's business objectives and growth agenda.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive public affairs strategy that aligns with the airport's business goals and objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, parliamentarians, and industry leaders.
- Advise senior internal stakeholders on political engagement and policy change.
- Represent the airport's interests in dealings with the UK Government, Parliament, and other influential audiences.
- Monitor and analyze key policy developments and their potential impact on the airport's business.
- Develop and implement targeted campaigns to win support from political stakeholders for the airport's growth agenda.
- Manage interventions to minimize and mitigate legislative and reputational risk to the airport.
Requirements
- Degree in politics or a related discipline (Masters level desirable).
- Experience within an in-house corporate environment or consultancy and with political context.
- Experience of dealing with governmental, Parliamentary and influential third-party audiences within the UK.
- Awareness of key developments in infrastructure & environment policy an advantage.
- An excellent command of written English, and ability to write professional letters, emails, engaging copy and formal reports.
- Skilled in research and interrogating data and reports, setting out compelling, evidence-based arguments and policy positions – both in writing and verbally.
- Experience and confidence in representing the business externally at meetings and events, including delivering presentations, tailoring these to the relevant audiences and networking skills.
