As a Principal Electrical Design Engineer at Babcock International Group, you will play a critical role in delivering engineering and technical activities across our projects. This position sits within our Cavendish Nuclear business, which focuses on decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, and operating and building nuclear power plants.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the delivery of engineering and technical activities through the application of process, domain knowledge, and experience.
  • Assisting in effective customer management through interfacing with customers and supply chain on design issues and assisting with procurement specifications.
  • Ensuring procedures, codes, and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
  • Providing a technical interface with internal and external stakeholders at a detailed level.
  • Carrying out technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment/resolution and design of improvements.
  • Contributing to process improvement within the operational and/or design lifecycle to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time, and asset utilization.
  • Applying engineering domain knowledge to produce technical solutions and documentation in support of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Producing, reviewing, verifying outputs including calculations, analyses, technical reports, technical specifications, and method statements.
  • Ensuring appropriate review, verification, and approval is undertaken on work performed.
  • Planning, delivering, and monitoring assigned tasks and projects, ensuring requirements are delivered to time, quality, and cost.
  • Providing support to the Project Manager for the planning, control, and delivery of tasks and projects.
  • Making engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
  • Acting as Technical Authority or Engineering Lead when authorized to do so.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant engineering discipline, with demonstrable experience.
  • Experience in working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams to deliver activities on a range of project types.
  • Demonstrable experience in covering a variety of tasks.
  • Communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines.

The role operates on a 37-hour work week and includes hybrid and flexible working. The successful candidate must be able to achieve baseline security clearance for this role.
