About the Role

We are seeking an experienced midwife to join our Home Birth Team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a community midwife, you will provide continuity of care to women and people who have chosen to book a homebirth. You will work in a new team situated across East and West Sussex, operating within the community patch that serves the Royal Sussex County Hospital Brighton and Princess Royal Hospital Haywards Heath.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate midwifery care for mothers, babies, and families in both inpatient and community settings.
  • Discuss options and support parents in making informed choices about their plan of care, including birth plans, pain relief, infant feeding, baby care, return to work, and family planning.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of care, making necessary modifications to midwifery care pathways and providing professional advice and support as required.
  • Act as the client's advocate and empower them to promote their own health and well-being.
  • Refer clients to other practitioners when needs and risks are beyond the post holder's scope of practice or require specialist input.

Person Specification
  • Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles.
  • Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
  • Registered Midwife.
  • Experience and skilled in wide range of midwifery settings.
  • 997/8 Mentorship Module or Equivalent.
  • Current UK Driving Licence.
