The Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tutor for Dental Hygiene and Therapy to join our team. As a Tutor, you will play a vital role in facilitating learning and teaching the knowledge and clinical skills required by students of Dental Hygiene and Therapy.
Main Responsibilities- Deliver teaching in a variety of formats, including lectures, workshops, tutorials, and small group teaching.
- Advise, demonstrate, and instruct students on the dental clinic and in the phantom head laboratory.
- Supervise student Dental Hygienists & Therapists during placements in other establishments within the Trust.
- Assess students' knowledge, attitude, clinical skills, professionalism, and performance in their studies.
- Participate in curriculum audit and improvement, designing and implementing new teaching and assessment strategies.
- Degree or equivalent in Dental Hygiene and Therapy.
- Current GDC registration.
- Supplemented by clinical practice in General Dental Practice, Salaried Services, or Hospital Dental Services.
- Membership of Higher Education Academy (desirable).
- Certificate in postgraduate medical education or equivalent (desirable).
- Previous relevant teaching experience (desirable).
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- IT skills in Microsoft Office.
- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
- Able to work as a team as well as on own initiative.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Able to empathise with students' needs.
