Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Science Graduate to join our team as an Academic Support Professional. As a Science Graduate, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils, parents, and teachers to establish a supportive learning environment in which children make good academic progress in science up to GSCE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Pupil Learning: Deliver specific learning programmes, setting high expectations while encouraging independence and building confidence.
  • Mentor Students: Provide one-to-one and group mentoring, planning and leading booster and intervention sessions to tackle difficult topics.
  • Observe and Record Pupil Performance: Observe, record, and provide feedback on pupil performance.
  • Assist with Whole Class Teaching: Assist with whole class teaching and contribute to the development of the curriculum.
  • Attend Departmental Co-Planning: Attend departmental co-planning to understand the curriculum and support its development.
  • Behaviour Management: Use strategies to assist in behaviour management and support pupils in achieving their learning objectives.
  • Promote Inclusion: Encourage pupils to interact and work collaboratively, promoting inclusion and diversity.
  • Adapt Resources: Adapt and develop resources for EAL and SEND pupils, ensuring their safety and enabling them to access the curriculum.
  • Curriculum Delivery: Assist in creating materials for curriculum delivery and display boards.

  • Enthusiasm and Commitment: A genuine enthusiasm and commitment to working with secondary students.
  • Organisation and Communication Skills: Good organisation and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • IT Skills: Good IT skills and a keenness to develop digital fluency.
  • Qualifications: An degree.
  • Teamwork: An ability to work under direction and as part of a team.
