Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optometrist to join our team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Optometrist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality eye care services to our patients.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye care services, including refraction, biometry, medical contact lens practice, and low vision services. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver a range of ophthalmology services, including eye emergency, cornea, cataract, glaucoma, diabetic, medical retinal, and clinical research activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality optometric services to patients of all ages, including those with varying degrees of visual disability and communication skills.
- Work as an autonomous practitioner, providing optometric assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients.
- Take on a lead clinician role for at least one specific optometric service, such as the contact lens service, low vision service, or ultrasound biometry service.
- Coordinate and evaluate service delivery, liaising with the Head of Optometry Department regarding changes to the service.
- Undertake specific administrative duties, including tasks associated with lead roles and other administrative tasks delegated by the Head of Optometry Department.
- Contribute to clinical audit and research activities, as agreed with the Head of Optometry Department.
- Provide teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for various disciplines within ophthalmology.
- Take a major role in the preparation, organisation, and delivery of teaching programmes provided by the Optometry Department.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optometry, with experience in delivering high-quality eye care services. You will be a registered supervisor with the College of Optometrists and have a strong commitment to continuing professional development.
