Our department is at the forefront of technological advancements, utilizing a comprehensive Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system for both adult and pediatric inpatients, as well as outpatient clinics. We also employ robotic dispensing, prescription tracking systems, and electronic discharge processes.
You will play a vital role in executing the Pharmacy Clinical Services strategy, striving for excellence in delivering the highest standards of care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a thorough pharmacy service to patients within the trust.
- Collaborate with the clinical pharmacy team to provide a medicines optimization service across various wards.
- Allocate time to perform final accuracy checks on prescriptions within the main pharmacy department and at ward-level pharmacy hubs.

Communication and Relationship Skills
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with pharmacy clinical team members, pharmacy department staff, ward personnel, and healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to deliver pharmacy services to wards.

Analytical and Judgment Skills
- Assist in training pharmacy staff on medicines optimization processes, including evaluating the competence of pharmacy personnel.
- Conduct medicines reconciliations for patients, assess their own medications, and provide patient counseling, reporting any compliance issues as necessary.
Planning and Organizational Skills
- Participate in organizing the weekly schedule for clinical technicians, assistants, and students.
- Manage daily reports and coordinate the workload for the clinical technician and assistant team.
- Serve as an Educational Supervisor for pharmacy staff pursuing medicines optimization qualifications or completing rotations within the clinical department.
Patient Care
- Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
- Organize medication arrangements for complex patients, including medication counseling.
- Collaborate with external organizations to ensure safe ongoing care for patients during admission and discharge, particularly for those with complex medication regimens.
- Promote safe prescribing and medication administration practices at the ward level.
Professional Development
- Maintain personal and professional growth to optimize contributions to the pharmacy service.
- Ensure current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, adhering to professional standards.
- Participate in local rota arrangements for on-call duties, late clinics, and weekend responsibilities as required.
