Job Overview:

In the role of SEN Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate closely with classroom educators to deliver customized assistance to students with varied learning requirements. Your responsibilities will include aiding in classroom activities, fostering an inclusive educational atmosphere, and ensuring that every student receives the necessary support to thrive both academically and socially.

Key Duties:

  • Provide individualized or small group assistance to students with SEN, modifying teaching strategies to cater to their unique needs.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of personalized education plans (IEPs).
  • Support classroom educators in behavior management and maintaining a constructive learning environment.
  • Help students with everyday tasks and activities, promoting independence and self-esteem.
  • Track and report on student progress, collaborating closely with teachers and SEN coordinators.
  • Encourage social integration and assist students in developing social skills.
  • Establish a secure and nurturing environment where students feel appreciated and supported.
Essential Qualifications for SEN Teaching Assistant:
  • Experience in working with children or young individuals with special educational needs.
  • A patient, compassionate, and understanding demeanor when interacting with students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  • A dedication to fostering inclusion and addressing students' unique learning requirements.
  • Possession of an Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
