Join LANXESS UK as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician.
Position Overview
As a vital member of our technical team, you will report directly to the EC&I Engineer. Your primary responsibilities will encompass maintenance compliance activities and assisting with the calibration and trip testing program. This position operates primarily during weekdays, with some flexibility required for occasional weekend shifts to support the EC&I team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute all assigned maintenance routines and inspections to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and site maintenance protocols.
- Develop comprehensive risk assessments and method statements for tasks undertaken.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in low voltage electrical systems as necessary, supporting the EC&I Engineer with the maintenance and testing of site electrical systems.
- Deliver exceptional support on process plant instrumentation, including troubleshooting, calibration, and trip testing.
- Assist the EC&I Engineer and planner in all aspects of work control and planning.
- Ensure compliance with operational procedures in line with SHE standards (LANXESS, COMAH, DSEAR, IEC61511, ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, etc.).
- Identify areas for improvement and actively participate in their implementation.
- Provide commissioning assistance to project engineers for new installations on site.
Candidate Profile:
- Completed trade apprenticeship, supported by HNC in electrical/EC&I or equivalent qualifications.
- At least 5 years of experience in a process plant environment, preferably on an upper tier COMAH site.
- Familiarity with engineering procedures.
- Understanding of HV/LV systems and DCS/IACS.
- Thorough knowledge of workplace safety legislation and standards, including ATEX, PUWER, and Functional Safety. COMPEX certification is a plus.
- Trained in the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations BS 7671.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with SAP S4/Hanna for Asset Management is advantageous.
