About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Oncology Nurse to join our team at Pembroke Suite, a state-of-the-art SACT infusion day unit. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the SACT team in delivering outstanding patient care, working closely with the oncology and haematology team to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Assess and develop junior staff through mentoring, learning, and appraisals, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage the unit effectively, making decisions and plans for its development, and presenting a united, cohesive voice as a senior member of the team.
  • Liaise with pharmacy, scheduling, CNS, and consultant teams to ensure patients receive high-quality care.

Requirements
  • SACT accredited course
  • Oncology/haematology experience
  • Leadership experience, managing a team
  • SACT administration
  • IV administration
  • Management of central lines cannulation & venepuncture
  • Administration of blood products
  • Knowledge of cytotoxic policy
  • Evidence of being caring and compassionate with a good understanding of managing patients with complex needs
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development
Desirable Criteria
  • Intrathecal Chemotherapy skills
  • Post-registration qualification in oncology/haematology nursing
  • Governance experience or understanding of governance
  • Palliative care experience
  • Leading a team in cancer care
  • Practice assessor/supervisor
  • Advanced communication skills
