Job Summary
The Children's Society is seeking an experienced practitioner to join our Community Hidden Harm Awareness Team (CHHAT) in Essex. As a Hidden Harm and Family Support Practitioner, you will provide targeted support services to young people and their families affected by parental/familial substance misuse and mental health.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled practitioner who can deliver direct interventions with vulnerable young people, co-produce care and safety plans, and work in partnership with multi-agency teams. You will need to demonstrate extensive experience of working with young people and families, including those who are hard to reach and from diverse backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct interventions with young people on a one-to-one and group work capacity, supporting their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
- Co-produce care and safety plans with young people, focusing on a relational and strength-based approach.
- Work in partnership with multi-agency teams to ensure the needs and wishes of young people are heard and acted upon.
- Provide support to families affected by parental/familial substance misuse and mental health.
- Work flexibly, including working in the locality office and in the home environment to increase convenience and accessibility.
Requirements
- A relevant professional qualification working with vulnerable children and families, or substantial relevant experience of working with vulnerable young people facing significant challenges.
- Substantial experience of working with vulnerable young people and families that are hard to reach and from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience of supporting adolescents who are dealing with complex and sensitive issues.
- Experience of partnership and multi-agency working.
- Experience of working on one's own and within a team.
- Experience of using IT-based case management systems.
