An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Lead Project Planner to become a vital part of our organization. Candidates should possess a background in Construction or Civil Engineering.
The Lead Project Planner will oversee the Planning and Scheduling function for key bids during the Tender, Preconstruction, and Construction phases. This role involves collaboration with internal teams at Galldris and external parties including Clients, Consultants, and other Key Stakeholders to develop and manage comprehensive, professional, and precise plans and schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Lead Project Planner, you will take the initiative in leading the planning function on selected projects, creating well-structured, professional, and feasible methodologies and schedules for both Pre-Construction and Construction activities.
You will work collaboratively to create, maintain, review, and manage construction timelines and planning deliverables, including planning philosophy, presentations, and reports. Additionally, you will provide technical support for planning and zoning activities, identifying planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements, while also recognizing significant quantities and factors that may impact the schedule in collaboration with the team and supply chain.
Your responsibilities will include establishing the critical path of the schedule and reviewing it with the broader team as necessary. Effective communication with key team members throughout the bid, tender, pre-construction, and construction phases will be essential, seeking guidance when appropriate.
- Utilizing resource allocation and leveling techniques as required
- Presenting the project schedule in detail or at a high level as needed
- Understanding and implementing the requirements of the building contracts regarding the submission of initial and updated schedules
- Providing periodic updates to the schedule with relevant supporting information to assist the delivery team in reporting
- Coordinating with Third Parties critical to the planning process, ensuring their requirements and contributions are understood and integrated into the schedule
Furthermore, at the Contract stage, the Lead Project Planner will be accountable to the Head of Planning / Project Lead for:
- Implementing and monitoring the overall planning strategy and the timing & sequence of Contract Programme activities
- Identifying and notifying the wider team of any issues that may affect project schedule delivery
- Issuing and communicating the Contract Programme to the Project Lead for distribution to the Client and Project Team, including periodic progress updates
- Ensuring that all necessary project planning and scheduling for contract execution is properly conducted
- Providing timely and accurate reports detailing work progress and critical issues during the design phase, along with a clear action plan
- Thinking commercially and focusing on activities that will deliver tangible value for the projects
- Performing other duties commensurate with the level of this position
- Adhering to Company policies & procedures
Experience and Knowledge:
Operational experience (site engineer/site agent) along with prior experience in planning Civil / Infrastructure / Structure projects is essential. Proficiency in planning techniques and the necessary planning tools is required.
Understanding of:
- Forms of tender documents, contract documents, and specifications
- Methods of planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring
- Risk and opportunity management, particularly in relation to planning and scheduling
- Events that initiate, and methods used to demonstrate, delay or change entitlement
- An understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, equipment, and labor requirements
- In-depth knowledge of the Planning requirements of the JCT and NEC forms of Contract
- Civils, Groundworks, Structures
Skills:
- Proficient in Planning and Scheduling Software, particularly P6 and Asta Powerproject
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to engage effectively with clients and internal staff
- Capacity to work independently
- Detail-oriented, organized, proactive with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic
- Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
Qualifications:
- Relevant experience in the construction industry
- Recognized qualifications in a Construction or technical discipline
