Chair, Patient and Public Voice Assurance Group Leader

About the Role
The Patient and Public Voice Assurance Group (PPVAG) is seeking an experienced Chair to lead the group in ensuring effective patient and public involvement in the commissioning of specialised services. The Chair will provide strategic leadership, facilitate discussions, and build constructive relationships with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong leadership for the PPVAG to enable it to fulfil its strategic purpose
- Chair meetings and delegate actions as necessary
- Facilitate contributions from members ensuring equity amongst stakeholders
- Provide support and guidance to all PPVAG members and pro-actively address issues and concerns as they arise
- Undertake an annual review for all independent PPVAG members
- Represent the Group as and when required, including attendance at the NHS England National Commissioning Group and Delegated Commissioning Group (NCG/DCG)
- Maintain pro-active relationships with a range of key stakeholders, including patients, patient groups and interested organisations
- Oversee the production of an Annual Report which will be presented to the NHS England NCG / DCG
- Maintain oversight of the Participation Framework for Specialised Commissioning

NHS England is accountable commissioner for around 150 specialised services, supporting people with rare and complex conditions. The organisation has in place strong patient and public involvement and engagement mechanisms as part of its national governance for the specialised commissioning function.

- Strong commitment to maintaining a patient focus in the commissioning of health services
- Sees the bigger picture and can think and act strategically
- Articulate and able to facilitate discussion to at all levels and bring it to conclusion
- Builds constructive relationships at all levels and works effectively in a team
- Has previous experience of chairing key assurance or decision making groups
