About the Role:
Ambition24hours Locums and Allied is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-Time Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a crucial role in the transformation of our mental health services, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough medical reviews of patients, as agreed in multi-disciplinary meetings, to ensure comprehensive care plans are in place.
- Attend management and academic meetings to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in mental health care and to contribute to the development of our services.
- Provide expert advice to General Practitioners, Liaison Teams, and Hospitals, including occasional hospital attendance, to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Prepare detailed reports and attend mental health tribunals for patients on Community Treatment Orders, ensuring that their rights and needs are protected.
- Assist trust-sponsored research projects, contributing to the advancement of mental health care and the development of new treatments.
- Supervise non-medical prescribers, providing guidance and support to ensure they are equipped to provide high-quality care.
- Be responsible for the assessment of emergencies, including assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983 and Section 136 assessments as part of an on-call rota, to ensure timely and effective interventions.
- Provide cover to community consultant colleagues on a mutually agreed basis, ensuring continuity of care and minimizing disruption to services.
- Actively engage in Trust policies, programmes, training, initiatives, and strategic reviews, contributing to the development of our services and ensuring they remain aligned with best practice.
Requirements:
- Hold an MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Have DBS clearance.
- Hold a qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
- Be willing to engage with further training in general adult psychiatry.
- Have clinical training and experience required for gaining UK CCT, or other alternative routes, such as CESR Fellowship.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Have widespread and detailed experience of assessment and management of general adult patients.
