About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Merchandising Manager to join our team at FatFace. As a key member of our product team, you will play a crucial role in driving sales and profitability across our channels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement department product strategies in line with our overall company strategy, ensuring alignment with financial parameters and successful implementation.
  • Create weekly and phase-level plans by channel and category for sales, margin, stock, and markdown, taking into account traded history and planned future events.
  • Collaborate with the DBMS team to develop and select a balanced and commercial range that delivers the product strategy, and successfully sign off with management.
  • Work closely with the Buyer to plan seasonal pricing and promotional activity, supported by financial evaluation.
  • Develop and implement a supplier strategy that sets out short, medium, and long-term plans for supplier partnerships, development, and improvement.
  • Thoroughly re-forecast line flows and department forecasts to ensure in-season activity maximizes profitability while maintaining efficient controls of stock.
  • Review, propose, and cost markdown events and promotional activity, calculating the effect on margin and profit.
  • Manage the availability of stock to ensure maximum profitability, launch dates are met, and sales and stocks are optimized in line with department KPIs across trading channels.
  • Input into cross-functional activity as required, such as retail operations, visual merchandising, finance, and logistics.
  • Effectively manage and motivate your merchandising team through performance management, personal development, and appraisals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
  • Proven track record in merchandising at either junior merchandiser or merchandiser level.
  • Previous experience in retail is essential.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels.
  • Ability to present complex technical information to others in an understandable way.
  • Strong planning and organization skills – able to change plans in line with business needs.
Competencies
  • Thorough understanding of all merchandising principles and systems.
  • Understanding of critical path and product life cycle.
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer profile, product range, and competitors.
  • Use of Excel, BI, and product systems.
  • Brand and commercial awareness.
