Job Summary:
1st Step Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team on a secured Life Sciences project in the commercial sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in delivering mechanical elements on commercial projects with values between 5-10 million.

Key Responsibilities:
- Attend and host team meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Lead and issue meeting notes for technical and progress workshop meetings to facilitate decision-making and action planning.
- Review tender information, including design drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules, to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Deliver design and working drawings necessary to deliver the project, capturing any additional costs and programme delays caused by external influences.
- Produce and check technical submissions against specifications and ER documents to ensure quality and compliance.
- Develop a commissioning strategy for the installation to ensure smooth and efficient handover.
- Manage procurement, value engineering, and better buying to optimize project outcomes.
- Program and manage works and sub-contract packages to ensure timely completion and quality delivery.
- Produce and manage project reports to keep stakeholders informed and up-to-date.
- Manage installation and commissioning activities of assigned packages to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure all variation costs are advised to the Project Manager and QS to maintain accurate project records.
- Control costs, liaise with the project surveyor to assist the PM with the monthly PFR report, and ensure quality and risk management.

Requirements:
- HNC/HNC in Building Services Engineering or similar.
- CSCS/SMSTS certification.
- Experience in senior-level M&E projects, with contract management responsibilities.
- Ability to accept responsibilities and accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and good computer skills.
- Awareness of health and safety requirements and the continual assessment/control of risk.
- Ability to actively contribute to the team (internal and client team).
