Heating Services Operations Manager

Job Overview:

The Heating Services Operations Manager is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of heating maintenance contracts. This role includes the management of all technical staff and administrative personnel engaged in these contracts, overseeing project costing, work management, certification processing, rate scheduling, and client liaison within this department. The position reports directly to the Head of Heating & Electrical, holding ultimate accountability for the successful delivery of assigned contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and strategize all planned service and reactive maintenance operations.
  • Ensure exceptional service delivery to clients and their customers through rigorous management and adherence to company protocols.
  • Supervise staff and operational systems, assessing practices, and implementing necessary changes to workload and material delivery schedules.
  • Enhance the capabilities of administrative staff by providing training, educational resources, and growth opportunities, including similar support for technical staff.
  • Address technical challenges by coordinating report preparation, staff communication, data analysis, and solution identification, including cost variations.
  • Manage daily compliance with contracts for heating system services and repairs.
  • Conduct regular audits of operational staff to ensure competence and adherence to company standards.
  • Respond to client inquiries efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain material supplies and logistics organization through close collaboration with procurement and site staff.
  • Fulfill operational requirements by scheduling and delegating tasks to administrative personnel; enhance work outcomes through effective team management.
  • Stay updated on professional knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing industry publications, and engaging with professional networks.
  • Provide weekly operational and financial updates on project progress and completions, assisting in valuation preparations with the commercial team.
  • Oversee all departmental staff matters, including disciplinary actions, toolbox talks, and sales review meetings.
  • Contribute to team success by achieving related objectives as necessary.
  • Collaborate with accounting personnel to identify cost-saving measures and improve departmental efficiency.
  • Manage all heating maintenance activities on assigned contracts in accordance with operational manuals and protocols.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in project management, budget oversight, procurement, training, technical auditing, and proficiency in Word and Excel.

Experience Needed:

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale maintenance programs, particularly within the social housing sector, including budgeting and health and safety management.
