Job Title: Pharmacy Technician - Medicines Optimisation Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our Clinical Pharmacy team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. As a Pharmacy Technician - Medicines Optimisation Specialist, you will play a key role in developing and delivering an advanced, patient-centred medicines optimisation service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medicines Optimisation: Work with the wards pharmacists to provide medicines optimisation initiatives according to departmental policies.
- Medicine Reconciliation: Complete the medicine reconciliation process, assess Patients Own Drugs (PODs), and order medicines as an accredited medicines optimisation pharmacy technician.
- Self-Administration: Support the implementation of self-administration by patients and/or carers where possible.
- Technical Queries: Liaise with ward and pharmacy staff to resolve any technical queries or problems with patients, referring to ward pharmacist when required.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Qualified Pharmacy Technician Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council, Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification or working towards ACPT qualification, Medicines Optimisation qualification (HEE LaSE) or equivalent.
- Experience: Significant work experience (post qualification) in hospital pharmacy, awareness of training competency requirements for technical staff (Level 2 & 3), experience in training and supervision of trainees.
- Skills: Well-developed organisational, time management and planning skills, good communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal), quality-oriented, excellent customer service skills, computer literate, good leadership qualities.
