Position: Residential Property Solicitor / Supervisor

Esteemed law firm seeking a committed and knowledgeable Residential Property Solicitor / Supervisor for a highly desirable permanent role.

Background of the Housing Department:

The Housing team of our client, recognized by The Legal 500 directory for its exceptional services throughout England and Wales, assists both landlords and tenants with a wide range of housing matters. Their professionals are adept at resolving housing disputes efficiently and effectively. The firm offers lawyer-supported dispute resolution or alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a method to address housing disrepair issues. Additionally, their department frequently represents clients in court for unlawful eviction, possession proceedings, and prepares applications for judicial review in homelessness cases.

Key Responsibilities:

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Department Director
  • Oversee all aspects of Housing work while occasionally providing technical expertise and guidance to team members
  • Manage a diverse caseload with varying complexities
  • Assist with casework involving a range of public and private housing issues including Homelessness, Disrepair, Eviction, Possession, Property Ownership Disputes, Succession for Tenants, and Neighbourhood Problems, while also undertaking advocacy
  • Engage with clients, gather instructions, and prepare cases
  • Handle correspondence efficiently
  • Maintain precise time costing procedures
  • Implement recommendations from monthly file reviews promptly
  • Ensure compliance with file management standards.

Essential Skills:

  • Must possess a clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of application
  • A dedicated team player who adapts well to new challenges
  • Proven supervisory experience with a focus on key performance indicators
  • Professional demeanor with a proactive approach; excellent client care skills, capable of handling sensitive client matters and resolving complex issues
  • Strong networking and communication skills to effectively market the firm and generate new business
  • Outstanding analytical and organizational abilities
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment
  • Familiarity with publicly funded Housing work and capacity to manage privately funded cases
  • Extensive experience in Housing-related matters
  • Advocacy experience is a plus
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications and document management.
