Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team as a Senior Lead Biomedical Scientist. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of Biomedical Scientists and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Duties
  • Provide operational leadership and management to the Specialist Biochemistry service and its associated workforce and services across all UHSussex sites.
  • Accountable for operational activity within the specialty, under the direction of the Head of Blood Sciences and Consultant Head of Department.
  • Supervise and undertake a range of complex investigations using a variety of techniques, including manual, semi-automated and automated techniques on highly specialised analysers.
  • Lead the training and development of other staff and maintain high professional standards, professional knowledge and competency.
  • Participate in the production and interpretation of audit data and understand and plan the delivery of day-to-day complex procedures and processes.
Requirements
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Accredited degree or equivalent resulting in state registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Up to date and in-depth specialist knowledge in own discipline (evidenced by log book or specialist portfolio).
  • Experience of leading and managing change in a complex environment and robust negotiating and performance management skills.
  • Experience of managing staff, including recruitment, appraisal and development, and experience of managing a team of professionals.
