Fibre Test Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Fibre Test Engineer to join our team at Harper Evans Recruitment. As a Fibre Test Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and refinement of optical test methods to characterise and qualify new optical fibre products.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Refine Optical Test Methods: Design and implement new test methods to characterise and qualify optical fibre products, ensuring they meet the required standards.
- Support Manufacturing Process Transition: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to transition optimised processes from development to production, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption.
- Perform Advanced Fibre Handling: Conduct fusion splicing, mechanical and laser cleaving, fibre tapering, and thermal diffusion to prepare fibre samples for testing.
- Conduct Qualification Testing: Perform rigorous testing to ensure product reliability and quality, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with design, process, and manufacturing teams to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Education and Experience: A Degree or Master's in Engineering, Optical Science, Physics, or a related field, with experience in fibre characterisation or fibre component manufacturing.
- Technical Skills: Practical knowledge of fusion splicing, cleaving, and tapering technologies, proficiency with test equipment, data recording, and computer-based systems.
- Software Skills: Familiarity with LabView software and Python, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Soft Skills: Strong English communication skills, both technical and conversational, with the ability to thrive in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
