Job Title: Senior HSE Specialist

Job Summary:

Select Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HSE Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing all Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programs and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in investigations to facilitate closure of identified non-conformances and train teams on quality investigation procedures.
  • Provide EHS expertise for new projects and change management activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Follow up on non-conformances and develop systems to resolve them based on root cause analysis.
  • Understand relevant technical requirements in EHS and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and follow-ups implemented to minimize or eliminate accidents or asset losses that might cause harm to employees, contractors, or property.
  • Facilitate implementation of corrective and preventative actions where required for EHS.
  • Ensure facility standards are in compliance with both company and government regulations.
  • Ensure training and coaching are taking place to drive a safety-perfect culture and ensure Health & Safety standards and awareness are well understood throughout the organization.
  • Able to identify gaps in the training agenda and develop courses as needed.
  • Drive key elements of training to management-level employees, including critical safety training, incident investigations, permit-to-work, manual handling, etc.
  • Ensure contractors permanently based on site have robust EHS procedures and systems developed in line with company expectations.
  • Know the ethical and legal compliance responsibilities of the position to lead ethically and model compliant behavior, maintaining an environment where employees can speak up and raise issues without fear of retaliation.
  • Act as deputy for the HSE manager when unavailable, coaching less experienced team members and driving a pipeline of talent within the business.
  • Budget holder for safety, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Develop a pipeline of projects and work alongside the engineering department and operations.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and experience working with governing bodies (such as the HSE, EA, or Local Authorities).
  • Understand the importance of building a good safety culture, working with key stakeholders to drive engagement across both core and non-core populations.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Tech-savvy with experience of Windows and ability to adapt to other systems as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a motivational environment, driving a good health and safety culture.
  • Technical functional excellence in Health & Safety, demonstrated through leadership.
