Position Overview
The successful candidate will be expected to independently manage wound care, provide guidance in nurse-led clinics, and deliver essential healthcare information to patients undergoing plastic surgery procedures. This role also encompasses direct educational responsibilities for staff, including support for nurses caring for patients in the plastic surgery domain.
While the position is tailored for a nurse with substantial experience in wound management and plastic surgery care, we are open to considering candidates with less experience who may be offered a training opportunity to develop the necessary competencies within a specified timeframe. The determination of whether the role is offered at a higher or training level will be based on the applicant's background in acute surgical nursing, understanding of wound care, and enthusiasm for plastic surgery nursing.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate the care provided to patients undergoing plastic surgery.
- Deliver care primarily in nurse-led outpatient clinics, with additional inpatient support as part of an outreach service.
- Facilitate patient and staff education as a core responsibility of the role.

Job Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of nurse-led plastic dressing clinics and consultant-led outpatient services, while managing junior staff assigned to these areas.
- Support and act as a deputy for the Plastic Surgery Clinical Nurse Specialist and the Lead Clinical Nurse in Plastic Surgery to guarantee the delivery of high-quality nursing care and efficient resource management.
- Assess patients undergoing plastic surgery interventions in hospital settings and provide remote assistance to patients and nursing teams in various care environments.
- Contribute to the educational and training initiatives for all staff involved in the care of patients undergoing plastic surgery.
Qualifications and Training
Essential Criteria
- Registered Nurse qualification.
- A minimum of two years of post-registration experience in acute surgical nursing.
- Relevant training in wound care or plastic surgery.
Desirable Criteria
- Completion of mentorship training.
