Aerospace Engineer in UAV or Sports Aerodynamics

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at Heriot-Watt University. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in the field of aerospace engineering, with a focus on UAV or sports aerodynamics.
Key Responsibilities- Manage research projects, focusing on suitable simulation methodologies and data management
- Provide insights for wind tunnel design and testing, utilizing results for CFD validation
- Drive innovation by evolving research projects and presenting original concepts
- Collaborate on scientific publications and represent the research group at conferences
- Advise team members on CFD simulation techniques and wind tunnel testing
- Represent the research group and university at meetings and conferences
- Mentor junior team members
- Optional: Develop research proposals for grants
- Hold a PhD in related fields
- Demonstrate competence through publications and intellectual contributions
- Proficiency in CFD software such as Ansys CFD, OpenFOAM
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead research efforts
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervise junior team members
- Proven experience in High Performance Computing
- Experience with CFD software like OpenFOAM, Ansys CFD
- Knowledge of advanced programming and machine learning
