Position Overview

This role involves 14 hours of work, structured on either Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Thursday. As this is a part-time position, the salary will be adjusted according to the hours worked.

This is a remarkable opportunity to engage in the transformative journey of Additional Support for Learning (ASL) across Clackmannanshire. Our commitment lies in addressing the needs of all children and young individuals with Additional Support Needs (ASN) within mainstream educational settings by ensuring an appropriate curriculum, conducive environment, and skilled personnel to provide support. We seek experienced and proficient ASL practitioners who can enhance and propel the development of Inclusive Educational Establishments through the creation of adaptable learning environments and direct assistance to children and young people. You will play a vital role in implementing this model and will be essential in delivering ASL Continuous Professional Learning (CLPL) for staff throughout Clackmannanshire. This position is open to educators working across Early Learning and Childcare (ELCE) and Primary sectors and may require collaboration across multiple establishments.

  • Facilitate the advancement of inclusive educational institutions.
  • Enhance the capacity of establishment staff and management to deliver an accessible and suitable curriculum for all learners.
  • Teach within and assist establishments in creating flexible learning environments tailored to meet the diverse needs of ASN.
  • Design and implement direct specialized interventions for individual and/or groups of children/young people, in time-limited sessions, collaborating closely with establishment staff.
  • Provide guidance and consultancy to teachers, ELCEs, and ASL staff in establishments on supporting children/young people with various ASN.
  • Contribute to Team Around the Child meetings and the development, execution, and evaluation of objectives within the Child's Plan.
  • Maintain close communication with parents/carers, educational colleagues, and relevant specialist agencies.
  • Plan and deliver CLPL on a variety of ASN topics.
  • Establish a network for ASL staff across the Learning Community/Authority.
  • Stay connected with local and national sources of information and expertise.
  • Undertake any other responsibilities deemed appropriate for this role as directed by the Manager.
