Building Surveyor Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Building Surveyor to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our Property and Maintenance team, you will be responsible for undertaking building surveys, managing development projects, and ensuring our properties meet environmental and sustainability targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough building surveys to inform decisions, appraisals, and maintenance plans.
  • Project manage development, extension, and refurbishment projects, ensuring they are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Liaise with architects, contractors, and suppliers, providing technical guidance and managing the tender process.
  • Prepare specifications and schedules of works for tender, and manage projects from progress to completion.
  • Offer defect diagnosis and undertake a range of property surveys.
  • Support the organisation in meeting its environmental and sustainability goals, including net zero targets for housing stock.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Building Surveying or a related field.
  • Experience in managing building maintenance and capital building work contracts.
  • Proficient in stock condition surveys and property maintenance (planned/cyclical/reactive).
  • Comprehensive understanding of statutory and legal regulations including planning legislation, Health and Safety, and Fire Safety.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven ability to negotiate and achieve value for money.
  • Financial awareness with the ability to manage budgets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant IT systems.
  • Car driver with access to own vehicle.
