Children's Referral Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced practitioner with administrative skills to join our team as a Children's Referral Coordinator. This role supports threshold and decision making from an Early help to Statutory level of safeguarding for children and families.

About the Role

We currently have permanent vacancies for Children's Referral Coordinators based in our Children's Front Door. This role provides statutory safeguarding services to Devon's children and young people outside of normal work hours.

As the first point of contact and first face of the Front Door, you will answer and triage all initial calls and enquiries to be able to filter and prioritise safeguarding concerns. You will also input relevant information into the children's recording system Eclipse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer and triage initial calls and enquiries
  • Filter and prioritise safeguarding concerns
  • Input relevant information into the children's recording system Eclipse
  • Provide guidance and/or information from Social Care
  • Gather data from records relating to children and families and other relevant information

Requirements

  • Good communication skills and an excellent telephone manner
  • Ability to establish the nature of any enquires or requests for information
  • Ability to identify the urgency and importance of safeguarding concerns
  • Ability to make judgements to respond and triage accordingly and in a timely manner
  • Good understanding of various support services available

Working Hours

The service runs from 9am – 5pm (Mon-Thurs) and 9am- 4pm (Fri). Outside of these hours and on public holidays, we operate an Emergency Duty Service (EDS).
