Position Overview
We are seeking applications for the role of Mechanical Maintenance Technician within our dedicated Estates Operational Maintenance team.
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will collaborate with a team to ensure that mechanical, electrical, and building systems are maintained to high standards, supporting clinical departments in their essential mission of patient care.
The selected candidate will assist operational management with daily engineering maintenance tasks, which encompass boilers, steam systems, medical gas systems, heating, hot water, and building infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all mechanical and electrical systems within the organization.
This role necessitates a comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of a variety of complex mechanical systems, including but not limited to:
- Boiler systems
- Ventilation systems
- Calorifiers
- Medical gas systems
- Passenger and goods lift systems
Additionally, a foundational knowledge of other trade skills is beneficial.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
- Completion of a structured training program or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering services
- BTEC/HNC Level in Building Services or equivalent relevant experience, along with City & Guilds Part II or NVQ Level III or equivalent relevant experience
Experience

- Post-qualification on-site experience
- Experience working with a diverse range of mechanical installations, plant, and equipment
Desirable
- Experience in an acute hospital setting
- Experience within the NHS
Language Skills
