As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of meals, maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, and ensuring that all health and safety regulations are adhered to.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and maintain the kitchen area, adhering to high standards of hygiene and safety.
- Prepare food items as necessary, using company-provided ingredients and following established recipes.
- Ensure that all food items are stored and handled properly, adhering to food safety guidelines.
- Manage stock rotation within the nursery's kitchen, ensuring that all ingredients are used efficiently and effectively.
- Follow safety and sanitation guidelines when handling food items, including proper handling and disposal of waste.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the kitchen, dining area, and surrounding spaces.
- Assist in the preparation of meals as needed, working collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
- Assist in the cleaning of dishes, utensils, and other kitchen equipment, adhering to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Loading and unloading the dishwasher, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and cleaned.
- Filling in all paperwork associated with QBDN's kitchen, including inventory management and food safety records.
- Managing dietary and allergy food, supporting the needs of individual children and their families.
- Communicating meal plans and menus to the rooms, ensuring that all staff are aware of dietary requirements and restrictions.
- Preparing numbers of bowls, plates, cups, and other tableware for the required number of children at each mealtime routine.
Requirements:
- 1 year of experience in a kitchen setting, preferably in a nursery or early years environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members.
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, adhering to food safety guidelines and regulations.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing circumstances.
