Principal Lawyer - Children and Adults Safeguarding Specialist

About the Role

Kirklees Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Lawyer to join our team. As a Principal Lawyer - Children and Adults Safeguarding Specialist, you will play a critical role in protecting the rights and interests of vulnerable children and adults.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance on complex and sensitive cases, ensuring that all actions align with the Council's objectives and legal requirements.
  • Represent the Council in Family Court and Court of Protection, and offer high-level legal advice to social work teams and senior council officers.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement effective safeguarding policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives
  • Strong experience in either Childcare law or Adult Social Care law
