About the Role

The University of Oxford is seeking a highly skilled Researcher and Database Manager to join the Endangered Archaeology in the Middle East and North Africa (EAMENA) project. This is a full-time appointment for a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2027. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Arches-powered EAMENA database and its customised instances, as well as managing the EAMENA GitHub repository and developing a Linked Open Data strategy for the database.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a degree in a relevant subject, along with a postgraduate degree and/or professional qualification in a related field, or relevant work experience in a technical area. You will also have experience with GitHub, Linux, Python, and JSON, as well as excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Maintaining and developing the Arches-powered EAMENA database and its customised instances

• Managing the EAMENA GitHub repository

• Developing a Linked Open Data strategy for the database

• Providing guidance to the Management Committee, Advisory Board, and the EAMENA team across partner institutions relating to all IT matters relating to the project
