About the Role

We're seeking a Lead Cost Controller (Project Controls Manager Grade) to join our busy and expanding Infrastructure-Defence team in Bristol and the South West.

This exciting opportunity will provide the chance to innovate, collaborate, and learn from our experienced and award-winning Cost Control community and wider Controls and Performance Network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside project delivery teams as part of a wider cost control team or independently with reach-back support to experienced cost professionals.
  • Lead teams of Cost Control professionals on complex projects or programmes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cost control processes to create efficiency and increase benefits to our clients.
  • Implement, embed, and roll-out changes to cost control processes.
  • Select, implement, administer, and maintain cost control systems and procedures.
  • Develop project Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and align time phasing of budgets against the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • Provide subject matter advice and manage the development of reporting tracking tools.
  • Generate Cost reports on a regular basis, including evaluation of earned value.
  • Define how to build and assure project forecast to account for all residual works in the Estimate To Complete (ETC).
  • Present performance recovery recommendations to relevant stakeholders and senior management.
  • Lead cost control activities to actively identify variance to the baseline and seek efficiencies across client programmes.
  • Undertake line management activities, including career development and performance management.

Requirements

  • Experience in Cost Control on complex projects/programmes.
  • Practical experience of different cost performance reporting and cost forecasting techniques.
  • Practical experience of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress reporting, forecasting, and performance reporting and analysis.
  • Practical experience of using MS Excel and other MS applications.
  • Experience of interfacing risk with other Project Controls disciplines.
  • Experience in leading small teams.
  • An understanding of how other aspects of Project Controls interact with Cost Engineering.
